Heather Got Married!

Weddings are uncharted territory for most brides.  “What happens during the getting ready process?  What can I expect? What do we need to be ready for hair and makeup?”  Those are just a few of the basic questions we get and these photos from Images by Daniel Michael really put into pictures what you can expect on the morning of your wedding.  Just sit back, relax and let us take care of you and your best friends!

CHARCOAL: It isn’t just for grilling!

Skin care trends come and go and while face masks are definitely a trend in full swing, I believe they’re here to stay. You’ve seen them on Instagram and all over Facebook—crazy people peeling their faces off for the sake of skin “care.” But there’s a new mask in town and it’s blowing those other guys out of the water. Forbes even recognizes that this new Deep Cleansing Charcoal Mask sensation is worth talking about, and the one I’m here to share with you is the most affordable on their list. In case you don’t know its benefits, let me catch you up on all activated charcoal does for skin:

  • binds with environmental toxins and dirt that contribute to acne
  • draws bacteria, poisons, chemicals, dirt and other micro-particles to the surface of skin, helping you to achieve a flawless complexion and fight blemishes such as whiteheads and blackheads
  • adsorb (pulls out, rather than absorbs in) thousands of times its own mass in harmful substances, which makes it a popular ingredient in facial masks

In addition to the Activated Charcoal, this mask also contains four other key ingredients that make it stand out from the crowd:

  • Kaolin and Bentonite Clays, which instantly absorb excess oil and reduces shine
  • Honeysuckle and Navy Bean Extracts, shown to target the appearance of skin discoloration such as redness, dark/age spots, and scarring

Stacey’s Cincinnati Wedding!

As R&R approaches it’s one year anniversary in Denver, I thought it’s about time to post one of the last weddings I was honored to do before moving.  Cincinnati has so many gorgeous venues, but The Bell Event Center is pretty spectacular.  I hadn’t gotten the chance to work in their bridal suite, so it was a great last hoorah!

Stacey was the made of honor in her sister’s wedding in 2014 and as we finished up hair and makeup, she asked if we were available for her wedding (that wasn’t official yet)! After the proposal happened, we got the awaited email asking if we were available.  We were really happy to be apart of another wedding with this sweet family.  Stacey had a large bridal party, full of energy and fun and LOTS of champagne!  These girls were a blast to be around, which you can see in these photos by Daniel Michael Images.

It’s “Trial Season”

It seems that “engagement season” has come and gone and we are in the midst of “contract” and “trial” season.  This is a crucial and stressful time when planning your wedding.  Finding vendors that you love, within your budget AND with your date available can prove to be a challenge.

Although, I can’t tell you what you need to be prepared for your cake tasting,or any other major wedding decisions, I can break down what you need for a successful trial!

It may have not crossed your mind, but where white, or a version of it.  Having a background similar to the color of your wedding dress will help you determine if the makeup you chose and lip color compliment it.

Better yet, try to set your trial the day you have a dress fitting.  Seeing your hair and makeup with your dress will really give you a really great vision of the overall look.

Show up with day old dirty hair.  Gross, right?  Not really!  Hair with a little texture and grit is really great for holding a formal style.  Worried that your hair gets too oily?  The trial is a great day to see if you get too oily for day old hair and if you need to wash the morning of your wedding.

Bring photos for inspiration!  This is a given and I’m not going to over explain it.  Also, show up with a few photos of how  you are used to wearing your makeup on a daily basis.  When we meet you with a clean face, it’s really hard to imagine what you’re used to looking like daily.

Bring your accessories!  Hair combs, your veil, earrings are all great to have during the trial.  This way you can see how everything falls into place.  Earrings hidden by your hair or is your comb too big or small for the overall look?  It’s good to find out these things while you still have time to make adjustments.

The best thing about a trial is that it’s a TRIAL!  Don’t be afraid to tell us what you like, don’t like and what needs to be adjusted.  Our biggest goal is making you look and feel beautiful!  Communication is key in any relationship!  🙂

Another Creevy Wedding!!

As the saying goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  Well, we love referrals, as it is the biggest  compliment we can receive!  Also, seeing catching up with past brides as a bridesmaid in a future wedding is always a treat!  And when one referral leads to another, we are more than flattered; we are truly grateful!

Four years ago R&R had the pleasure of working with Julie Creevy and her wonderfully sweet and welcoming family!  In 2015 we received and email from Rachel Creevy, Julie’s cousin, asking us to be a part of her wedding and we were so delighted to be able to work with this family again!  On a last minute whim, Emily Creevy, Rachel’s sister,  gave us a call 6 months before her November 2016 wedding and once again, we were thrilled to add another Creevy wedding to our books!

Seeing a family (sporadically) throughout the years is always such a treat.  Knowing that we were a part of such a special time in their lives is what this job is really about for us!

Casssie’s Winding River Ranch Wedding

2016 was an amazing year for R & R!  Not only did we expand our team in Cincinnati, we migrated west as well!  Colorado has been an amazing new adventure and as we receive photos from the weddings we we fortunate enough to be a part of, we love seeing the new, more rustic vibe that seems to be so prominent out here!  Cincinnati’s architecture makes for a gorgeous back drop, but the mountains of Colorado are equally stunning!

Cassie and Chase got married at Winding River Ranch just outside of Grand Lake, Co. When we got the images back from Amanda at Amanda Kopp Photography we couldn’t wait to share them on our blog.  The hard part was narrowing down which ones to post!

Amanda’s Downtown Denver Wedding

Amanda was one of the first brides that contacted R&R before we even officially moved to Colorado.  She found us online and took a chance after reading reviews and seeing our portfolio from Cincinnati.  We were excited that she did!

Although, originally from the Chicago area, Amanda now lives in Denver.  Not only was this her wedding day, but it was a reunion for long distance friends and family.  You could feel the love and energy in the room as the girls got ready.  We were so excited to get the photos back from George Street Photography!  Check them out below!
