There’s something truly romantic about an elopement! When Sarah from A Touch of Bliss asked us to provide hair and makeup for Kelsey’s elopement, we couldn’t say “no”! The icing on the cake? It was springtime in Rocky Mountain National Park and the bride was getting ready at The Stanley Hotel! This hotel is pretty cool, as most people know it from the movie “The Shining”. But, for a nature loving freak like myself, I was stoked to be in the mountains! Not only are there amazing views everywhere…the baby elk and deer were out!
After my excitement over the wildlife had calmed, I made my way to Kelsey’s room to be met with a slight dilemma! The bride had scratched her cornea the night before and was unable to open her right eye! In the 5 years I’ve been working weddings, this was a first! Kelsey was in great spirits, though and knew there wasn’t much she could do about it but laugh and keep putting eye drops in! Fortunately, her best friend was there and we let Kelsey relax a bit while the BFF/MOH’s hair was style (beautifully, of course!) We had Kelsey keep her eye shut a bit longer (in hopes she would be able to open it and it not water) while we did her hair. After both girl’s hair was done, it was time to do the bride’s makeup…Kelsey was unable to open her eye still. Oh well, the show must go on and we made it work! She kept her eyes shut the entire time her makeup was done. As a makeup artist, it’s pretty difficult when you can’t have your guest open their eyes to see how the shadow/liner looks. Luckily, our sweet, calm bride had asked for a fairly simple, classic look and although she was still unable to open her eyes when it was time to leave, we felt confident that she looked gorgeous! Sidenote: Kelsey was able to go back to Urgent Care, get some steroid drops right before the ceremony and was able to open her eyes eventually.) So… as you look at these photos, you’ll understand why our bride and her husband (and super cool officiant) rocked the shades!
There’s so much to stress over your wedding, timing, flowers, weather (check out that storm in the background), a scratched cornea…but at the end of the day, there are going to be so many laughable moments and who cares? You’re marrying your best friend!
And really, at the end of the day, you have everything you need: LOVE! Which, Rachel from Rachel Veltri Photo did a stunning job capturing!
